Isn't it about time?

Veterans of Oregon and Members of the community has long established the necessity of acknowledgement. This truth is self evident in the many projects, services, and ideals which are embraced by the organization at hand. One missing element in the journey to has been the lack of a public venue in which to share our gratitude, and state our loyalty to the soldiers of our country, and most particulary, those individuals who call themselves at home in Oregon.

It is our objective to present a FREE medal to every veteran who desires it, in order to publically acknowledge the sacrifice and willingess of our soldiers who risk their lives to protect the freedoms we so readily enjoy. This medal is designed to be presented to every veteran within the State of Oregon who has served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America with an honorable discharge.

This ceremony is not held in private, seclusion, or in the restricted confines of military establishments, rather it has been developed as a method of publically saying "thank you" to our soldiers with every eye watching and ear listening, that we might begin to understand the depth of commitment that every veteran undertakes.

Record Keeping

We have created a record-keeping system to insure that only veterans who have served honorably are recipients of medals or recognized in the Field of Honor, and both can be referenced. The system allows for easy location of veteran’s placement in the Field of Honor and record of all registered medals were issued.

Records will be available in numerical and alphabetical listings so that friends and family may locate any veteran’s medal number or placement in the Field of Honor. Any Medal or flag issued as a result of false information or less than honorable condition shall result in medals being revoked, nameplate removed from the Field of Honor and forfeiture of any donation made. A certificate of Award will be presented with all medals and Flags denoting date of issuance and registered numerical sequence for family records

About the Honorable Service Medal...

Medal Front

The medal facing is comprised of the American Flag which is in gold, golden in the hearts of all veterans who served under it and are entitled to have it drape their coffin at time of burial. Overlaid is the silhouette of the State, honoring those who served and welcomes them home in Oregon . Rather than weapons or symbols of war used to cause death and destruction, synonymous with not one but all 5 branches of the military is the Helicopter. To wounded soldiers it represented hope and salvation when the Medivac arrived on scene to transport soldiers from the front lines to medical facilities

Medal Back

Centered in the medal bottom are the words declaring Duty and Honor to our God and our Country in that order, first and foremost taught in basic training. Completing the outer ring are the 5 branches of the Armed Forces of the United States – all equal in display and importance, supporting one another, not overshadowing the mission of any. There is space for recording the name of recipient of the medal and the registration number of that medal when it was issued. Last is the symbol of our nation, an Eagle, in flight as it represents the freedom and liberty we all enjoy. Under it, are the words that the purpose of each medal helps represent, that the service and sacrifice of every veteran ~ never be forgotten

Manufacturing

Medals are manufactured by Northwest Territorial Mint, a U.S.-based company selected specifically whereby the medal is manufactured in America , by Americans for Americans. Medals made overseas are less expensive as well as of lesser quality. Our preference is to present the finest product possible, made in America to honor our Americans who served.
